US: All clear at Ohio State after active shooter report

WASHINGTON (AA) – A shelter in place order has been lifted for students at Ohio State University on Monday after an active shooter was reported on campus.

The school’s emergency management unit tweeted earlier in the morning that students should “Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College”.

It later added that the scene was secure and all classes were canceled for the rest of the day.

"Run, Hide, Fight" is U.S. government protocol for responding to an active shooter situation. It includes keeping an escape route in mind, hiding in an area out of the shooter's view and fighting the shooter only as a last resort.

At least seven students were reportedly taken to the hospital during the crisis.

The status of the shooter was not immediately known.

More than 65,000 students attend Ohio State University.
