US flooding leaves 4 dead, including child in Alabama

WASHINGTON (AA) - At least four people, including a child, were killed as a result of flooding in the US state of Alabama, according to authorities on Thursday.

The Marshall County Coroner's Office said two fatalities were confirmed early Thursday but the victim's identities have yet to be released.

"A 4-year old female child died at Haynes Road & Hickory Hill Road and was recovered around 11:50 pm on Wednesday night. An 18-year old female was recovered on Friendship Road in the Union Grove area around 7:00 am this morning," it said on Facebook.

The office said it is working with law enforcement and fire personnel in both incidents to ensure families are notified.

In addition, the bodies of a couple whose vehicle was swept away by floodwaters in Hoover on Wednesday night, have been found, according to WBRC FOX 6 television channel.

Latin Marie Hill, 23, and Myles Jared Butler, also 23, were found inside a car on Fox Creek Circle in Fox Creek, said the report, citing the Shelby County coroner.

Cars in metro Birmingham and parts of the Tennessee Valley were submerged because of flooding triggered by rainfall across north Alabama.
