US House overwhelmingly passes $40B in new funding for Ukraine
New funding package now heads to Senate, where it is expected to be rapidly approved

WASHINGTON (AA) – The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted Tuesday night to approve $40 billion in new funding for Ukraine as the country battles Russian forces.
The 368-57 vote sends the sweeping package to the Senate, which is expected to vote on and pass it as soon as this week. All of the opposition in the House came from Republicans.
The package comes in well over the $33 billion requested by US President Joe Biden as he and his administration warn that existing funds and authorities run dry.
