US industrial production falls 0.1% in October

Capacity utilization decreases 0.2 percentage points; manufacturing output up 0.1%

ANKARA (AA) - US industrial production fell 0.1% in October despite estimates of an increase, according to data released Wednesday by the Federal Reserve.

The expectation was for a gain of 0.2% for October after a 0.1% rise in September.

Manufacturing output, on the other hand, rose 0.1% in October, while gains in July, August and September were all revised lower than previously reported.

The figure also came in lower than the expectations of a 0.2% gain. It was up 0.2% in September.

Capacity utilization, which indicates overall growth and demand in the economy, fell 0.2 percentage points in October to 79.9%.

The figure, which is an indicator of overall growth and demand in the economy, was also below projections of 80.4%. It stood at 80.1% in September.
