US Open: Injured Djokovic pulls out against Wawrinka

After having shoulder problem in 3rd set, the world No.1 Djokovic forfeits to send Wawrinka to quarters

ISTANBUL (AA) - Defending champion Novak Djokovic pulled out from US Open due of injury during fourth-round match against Swiss Stan Wawrinka.

After having shoulder problem in the third set, the world number one Djokovic retired to send the Swiss on to the quarterfinals, 6-4, 7-5, 2-1 (ret.)

Three-time Grand Slam champion Wawrinka will play Russian fifth seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals.

"Sorry he had to retire to finish the game like that, but for me, most important is the way I am playing, the way I am moving. Tonight I think was really high-level," Wawrinka said after the match.
