US President Biden calls Russia’s Putin a ‘butcher’
Asked what he thinks of Vladimir Putin, Joe Biden tells Ukrainian refugees: ‘He is a butcher'

NEW YORK (AA) – US President Joe Biden on Saturday called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “butcher.”
Visiting a Ukrainian refugee camp in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, Biden chatted with women and children there, a few of some 3.7 million who have fled the war, including over 2 million in neighboring Poland.
Asked what he thinks of Putin, Biden said: "He's a butcher."
Biden’s latest harsh characterization of Putin follows his statement in Washington this Wednesday saying: "I think he is a war criminal.”
The Russia-Ukraine war, which began on Feb. 24, has met international outrage, with the EU, US and UK, among others, implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.
At least 1,035 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 1,650 injured, according to UN estimates, while cautioning that the true figure is likely far higher.
Some 10 million Ukrainians have also been displaced both inside and outside the country, according to the UN refugee agency.
