US private payrolls increase by 455,000 in March

February figure also revised up from 475,000 to 486,000

ANKARA (AA) – US private payrolls rose by 455,000 in March in line with market forecast, according to a report released on Wednesday.

The market projection was a 450,000 rise, while the figure for February was revised up from 475,000 to 486,000.

Small and medium businesses added 90,000 and 188,000 jobs, respectively, while large businesses added 177,000 this month, according to the report by ADP Research Institute.

“Job growth was broad-based across sectors in March, contributing to the nearly 1.5 million jobs added for the first quarter in 2022,” ADP chief economist Nela Richardson said in the report.

She pointed out that services providers made largest hiring as it was the one struggled the most due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"However, a tight labor supply remains an obstacle for continued growth in consumer-facing industries," Richardson added.
