US rider Cameron Das becomes 2021 Euroformula Open champion

ANKARA (AA) - US rider Cameron Das was crowned as the 2021 Euroformula Open champion on Saturday with his second place finish at the first race on Barcelona Circuit.

Motopark driver Das battled with Turkish rider Cem Bolukbasi for the first spot the whole race, but Van Amersfoort Racing driver Bolukbasi managed to finish first in the first race of the 8th round of EuroFormula.

Das said he is relieved after claiming his maiden championship in Euroformula. "Huge thank you to Motopark for an absolutely rapid car all year, and everyone’s just been such a help in developing me as a driver and I’ve had some great partners to make this all possible. I couldn’t be happier,” he said.

Bolukbasi said he felt good over his second win of the season. "Pole to victory. Obviously just like how I planned and how I wanted it to go,” he added.

The second race of the Barcelona round in Euroformula Open will be held on Sunday.
