US delivers nearly 150 trucks loaded with armored vehicles and equipment to Syria

AL-HASAKAH, Syria/ANKARA, Turkey (AA) - The U.S. delivered nearly 150 truckloads of armored vehicles and equipment to the terrorized regions in Syria late Monday, signalling non-withdrawal from the country.

According to Anadolu Agency correspondents on the ground, trucks loaded with armored vehicles, construction equipment and power plants, crossed the Semalka gate in Iraq-Syria border to reach the depot belonging to YPG/PKK terrorists in the Harab Isk and Sarrin villages.

The trucks were carrying Humwee vehicles, known as multi-purpose vehicles with high motion capability, which the U.S. gives to YPG/PKK terrorists using the name of SDF in Syria.

The delivery occurred when Turkish and U.S. officials were holding meetings in Washington on the establishment of a safe zone in northern Syria, and the roadmap for stability in Manbij.

The sources in the region said some 400 trucks were sent to the regions occupied by the YPG/PKK terrorists in Syria from Iraqi side since the beginning of the withdrawal process.

Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly announced plans to withdraw American forces from the war-weary country.

When Trump proposed the idea of a terror-free safe zone in northern Syria, U.S. officials demanded Turkey guarantee that it will not conduct an operation against terrorist group YPG/PKK.

Turkey backed the idea of a safe zone in Syria, while it opposed the U.S. request for protection of the terrorists.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children. The YPG is its Syrian branch.
