ANKARA (AA) - The US stock market closed lower on Friday, while indices posted weekly losses.
The Dow Jones fell 166 points, or 0.48%, to 34,584 as Goldman Sachs and Coca-Cola shaving 1.3% and 1.6%, respectively. The blue-chip index lost 0.06% this week.
The S&P 500 decreased 40 points, or 0.91%, to 4,432. The index plummeted 0.57% for the week.
The Nasdaq lost 138 points, or 0.91%, to 15,043 with AMC Entertainment plummeting 4% and Facebook losing 2.2%. The tech-heavy index fell 0.47% this week.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 11.3% to 20.81.
The yield on 10-year US Treasury notes rose 2.7% to 1.367%, while the dollar index added 0.3% to 93.24.
Oil prices fell for the second consecutive day as Brent crude was down 0.46% to $75.32 per barrel, and West Texas Intermediate declined 0.84% to $71.95.
Precious metals continued their losses with gold falling 0.05% to $1,753 per ounce, and silver plummeting 2.3% to $22.38.
