US stock market opens higher

ANKARA (AA) - Major US stock indices opened higher Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 130 points, or 0.36%, to open at 36,081.

The S&P 500 rose 24 points, or 0.51%, to post an all-time high opening of 4,749.

The Nasdaq was up 77 points, or 0.5%, to open at 15,730.

The VIX volatility index, however, was up 3.7% to 18.63.

The dollar index was slightly up by 0.06% to 96.08, but the yield on 10-year US Treasury notes fell 0.6% to 1.484%.

Precious metals were up, with gold adding 0.3% to $1,808 per ounce and silver increasing 0.4% to $22.9.

Crude prices were mixed, with Brent crude trading at $76.53 per barrel with a 1% gain. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude was flat at $73.80.
