US stocks close with gains

ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges closed with gains on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 75 points, or 0.2%, to finish the day at 38,790. The S&P 500 added 32 points, or 0.63%, to 5,149.

The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 130 points, or 0.82%, to end the session at 16,103.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 0.56% to 14.33. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.4% to 4.325%.

The dollar index rose 0.17% to 103.61, while the euro was flat at $1.0870 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold adding 0.03% to $2,161 an ounce and silver increasing 0.16% to $25.07.

Oil prices were mostly flat, with global benchmark Brent crude at $86.90 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $82.17.

Bitcoin was down 0.6% to $66,991 and Ethereum lost 3.7% to $3,454 at 8.56 p.m. EDT, according to data from CoinMarketCap, a digital asset price-tracking website.
