US stocks open Tuesday with mixed figures

VIX volatility index, or fear index, down 0.46% to 23.69

ISTANBUL (AA) – US stock markets opened with mixed figures on Tuesday.

The Dow was down 51 points to 33,014.48 at 9.30 a.m. EDT (1330GMT), while the S&P 500 dropped by 2 points to 4,136.37.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq added 14.1 points to reach 12,395.67.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 0.46% to 23.69 as of 9.41 a.m. EDT (1341GMT).

The dollar index dropped 0.29% to 108.66 and the 10-year US Treasury yield gained 1.34% to 3.07%.

Gold increased 0.27% to $1,753.15, while silver slipped 0.19% to $18.84.

Crude prices were up as global oil benchmark Brent crude traded at $99.03 for a 2.64% increase, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $93.07 with a 3% increase.
