US trade deficit for goods falls 6.1% in May

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US trade deficit for goods fell 6.1% to $91.1 billion in May, according to data released Wednesday.

The trade deficit, which is the difference between imported and exported goods, saw a decline of $6 billion from $97.1 billion in April, the Commerce Department’s Census Bureau said in a report.

The expectation was for the figure to come in at $92.9 billion.

Exports in May were $162.8 billion, or $1 billion less than in April.

Last month, imports stood at $254 billion -- $6.9 billion less than the previous month's imports.
