Venezuelan officials vote in Anadolu photo contest

ANKARA (AA) - Venezuela's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for North America Carlos Ron and its ambassador to Turkey Jose Bracho Reyes voted in Anadolu Agency's annual photo contest, praising the acumen of the photojournalists.

Ron picked the Great Camlica Mosque With Crescent and Moon in the Life category, Football On Ice-covered Lake in the Sports category, and Doctor`s Coronavirus Fatigue in the News category.

Ambassador Bracho voted for Hungry Fox Searching For Food in Turkey`s Hakkari in the Life category, Galatasaray at Europa Title Race in Sports, and Journey To Hope In The Truck Trailer in the News category.

- Anadolu Agency's high profile international photo contest

Anadolu Agency, Turkey's premier news outlet, held its first Photo of the Year contest in 2012.

This year, 76 images were selected from more than 750,000 photos from various parts of the world, including Syria, Palestine, Russia, China, and Azerbaijan.

Photos will be selected in three categories -- news, life, and sports -- from the works of Anadolu Agency photojournalists or correspondents who have had an impact on the Turkish and world agendas.

The images were shortlisted by Anadolu Agency's photo editors and are frequently used in leading media organs of the world

The images were put to a vote in the news category with 31 entries, life with 30 entries, and sports with 15 entries.

The photos have Turkish and English captions.

Health care workers who are fighting COVID-19 at the frontline were the first to vote.

Also, many people from different professions, students, athletes, and politicians have already chosen their favorite photos so far in Turkey.

Last year, nearly 280,000 people took part in the voting.

This year's voting will continue through Dec. 31 at aa.com.tr/photooftheyear​​​​​​​.
