'Vietnam to be modern industrialized nation by 2025'

ANKARA (AA) – The ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has set an agenda to make the Southeast Asian country a modern industrialized developing nation by 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, the CPV said its National Congress will convene on Jan. 25 in the capital Hanoi and the session will run through Feb. 2.

At least 1,587 delegates are expected to attend from across the country of over 96 million.

They will elect members of the party’s top executive committees.

The CPV is the founding and ruling party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The 13th Congress draft has set an agenda to make Vietnam a modern industrialized developing country and elevate it from the lower-middle income group by 2025.

The CPV will celebrate its centenary in 2030, when it aims to see Vietnam as a “developed country with modern industry and join the upper-middle income group.”

“By 2045, when Vietnam celebrates its founding centenary, Vietnam will become a developed and high-income group country,” the statement said.

It said the CPV has built relations with 247 parties in 111 countries.
