Virus deaths, cases rise in Kuwait, Qatar

ISTANBUL (AA) - Local health authorities in Kuwait and Qatar recorded additional deaths and infections from the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday.

In Kuwait, five people died from the virus while 763 people were infected and 662 others recovered, according to the Health Ministry, which put the country’s count at 128,843 cases, including 794 deaths, and 119,742 recoveries.

In Qatar, the Health Ministry recorded 227 cases, in addition to the recovery of 212 patients.

The ministry stated that the total number of confirmed cases rose to 133,370, including 232 deaths, and 130,414 recoveries.

Since first being detected in Wuhan, China in December, COVID-19 has claimed over 1.21 million lives in 188 countries and regions.

Over 47.55 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 31.69 million, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.
