MADRID (AA) - The seismic activities of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on Spain's island of La Palma, have stopped for the first time since September, according to authorities.
The eruptions and lava flow at the volcano stopped, while gas emissions and earthquakes are also in a dramatic decrease, the Canary Islands Volcanic Emergency Plan officials said on Tuesday.
They also said Cumbre Vieja has entered the last phase and experts announced that if the current data is confirmed over the next week, it will become clear that the eruption will stop.
The volcano, which has spewed more than 94 million cubic meters of lava since the eruption began on Sept. 19, destroyed 2,896 buildings, mostly houses, and left partial damage to 150 buildings.
