Wall Street closes mixed with bank decline, energy gain

NEW YORK (AA) - Wall Street closed mixed Friday as investment banks declined but energy companies' shares gained.

The Dow fell two points to end the day at 21,394; and remained unchanged for the week.

The S&P added three points to finish at 2,438 -- rising 0.2 percent this week.

The Nasdaq increased 28 points to close the day at 6,265, and jumped 1.9 percent for the week.

After four days of losses due to low crude oil prices, energy companies saw their shares increase Friday.

ExxonMobil rose 0.6 percent and Chevron climbed 0.5 percent.

At the final bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $43.09 per barrel -- a 0.8 percent increase, while international benchmark Brent crude was at $45.65 per barrel -- a 1 percent gain.

Shares of investment banking giants, however, declined. Goldman Sachs fell 1.2 percent, while Morgan Stanley lost 2.1 percent.
