NEW YORK (AA) – Wall Street ended mostly lower Friday after data showed the U.S. economy posted its first job losses in seven years.
The Dow fell one point to end trading at 22,773 and the S&P 500 lost two points to finish at 2,549.
The indexes, respectively, saw their six and eight consecutive daily gains come to an end.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, edged up four points to close at 6,590, finishing in positive territory for the ninth straight trading day.
The U.S. economy lost 33,000 jobs in September in the aftermath of hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the U.S. Department of Labor said earlier Friday, marking the first time since September 2010 that it lost more jobs than it created.
