'We're evacuating adjacent buildings out of an abundance of caution,' DC police say

WASHINGTON (AA) - Several buildings in downtown Washington, D.C., including Anadolu Agency offices, have been evacuated and others put on lockdown amid an early Tuesday bomb scare.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it was called to the Warner Theater in response to a suspicious package.
"We're evacuating adjacent buildings out of an abundance of caution," the department wrote on Twitter.
It said two exits at the neighboring Metro Center metro stop have been closed. Traffic has also been restricted on surrounding streets.
A lockdown appears to have been placed for several buildings in the area, including the National Press Building, located about two blocks from the Warner Theater.
One Anadolu Agency correspondent is currently in the building.
The theater is just six blocks from the White House and is close to other government buildings, including the mayor's office.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
