Nidal Bahwearath was grabbed by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday from outside Aden mosque

ADEN, Yemen (AA) - Dozens of people demonstrated on Friday in Yemen's southern city of Aden to condemn the abduction earlier this week of a prominent Muslim preacher by unidentified assailants.
“Release the imam!” protesters shouted, condemning the preacher’s abduction as a “cowardly act”.
On Wednesday, black-clad gunmen grabbed Sheikh Nidal Bahwearath from outside Aden’s Al-Dhahibi Mosque before whisking him off to an unknown location.
No individuals or groups have yet claimed responsibility for the abduction.
At Friday’s demonstration, protesters called on the Yemeni security services to secure the missing preacher’s release as soon as possible.
Imam of the Al-Dhahibi Mosque, Bahwearath is considered one of Aden’s best-known religious figures.
Since 2015, the city of Aden -- which currently serves as Yemen’s interim capital -- has suffered a series of bombings, assassinations and abductions.
