YPG terrorist commander killed in northern Syria

'Ali Botan' was responsible for special units of YPG, military wing of terrorist PKK/PYD

HASAKAH, Syria (AA) - A commander of the YPG terrorist organization was killed late Wednesday in an attack in northern Syria, local sources said.

Haji Kurkhan, codenamed “Ali Botan,” was responsible for the special units of the YPG terrorist organization – the military wing of the terrorist PKK/PYD.

His car was attacked near the Syrian border town of Buveyer in the Hasakah province’s Qamishli district, according to local sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns.

The commander was allegedly responsible for organizing YPG militants to conduct terrorist acts in Turkey. He was also known to have lived in Turkey's eastern Van province before his mission in the YPG.

The terrorist organization also announced on social media that its member "Ali Botan" was killed in a suicide attack, but did not specify his position in the organization.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Turkey is opposed to the activities of the PKK terror group’s affiliates in Syria, such as the PYD and the YPG, which the country lists as terrorist organizations.
