10 military personnel die in South Africa bus crash

PRETORIA, South Africa (AA) – Ten members of South Africa’s National Defense Forces, also known as SANDF, were killed and several others were injured when their bus overturned at the Golden gate reserve in the Free State province Friday.

According to SANDF Spokesman Brig. General Xolani Mabanga, “We are informed at this stage that 10 of our members have passed on.”

Mabanga said the bus was transporting SANDF personnel from the city of Bloemfontein to the Basotho cultural village for a women’s day event.

Local media said most of the dead and injured were women.

Mabanga said three soldiers were critically injured during the accident while 28 others received treatment for minor injuries at the scene.
