100 irregular migrants held across Turkey
Suspected human traffickers also rounded up in Van, Ardahan provinces, say security sources

ARDAHAN / VAN, Turkey (AA) – Turkish authorities on Monday held a total of 100 irregular migrants in Van and Ardahan provinces in the country’s east, security sources said.
Gendermarie forces in Ardahan stopped three vehicles at a checkpoint and caught 27 irregular migrants as well as three drivers suspected to be human traffickers.
The migrants were referred to the provincial migration office, whereas the drivers were arrested.
Separately, in Van province 73 irregular migrants were found in a shop in Edremit district. All of them were Afghan nationals, who were later sent to the local migration office.
Owner of the shop along with another individual were held for human smuggling.
