13 Daesh terrorists killed in northern Syria operation

ANKARA (AA) - At least 13 Daesh terrorists were killed Friday in northern Syria in a joint operation by the Turkish army and the U.S.-led anti-Daesh coalition, the military said.

According to a Turkish General Staff statement Saturday, 32 Daesh targets in northern Syria, including rear defense positions and defense buildings, were destroyed in the operation.

The targets, which were destroyed by Turkish army howitzers and anti-Daesh coalition air jets, had been armed to launch missile rockets at Turkey, the military added.

Turkey has been under indiscriminate rocket attacks from neighboring Syria since mid-January. In the Kilis province alone, a total of 20 people have been killed and almost 70 others wounded by rockets which fell inside Turkish territory.

On a separate note, Turkish army jets early Saturday destroyed 16 PKK targets in the rural area of the Diyarbakir province’s Lice district, the General Staff said.
