15 Daesh/ISIS suspects remanded in custody in northwestern Syria

GAZIANTEP, Türkiye (AA) – Fifteen suspected Daesh/ISIS terrorists who were arrested in northwestern Syria were remanded in custody, Turkish officials said on Thursday.

A total of 16 suspects were arrested in a security operation in the Al-Bab district based on intelligence information, according to the Governor's Office of neighboring Türkiye's southeastern Gaziantep province.

One of the suspects was a so-called "judge" from the terror group. Security forces also seized two rifles, a pistol, 85 cartridges, and digital materials from the homes of the suspects.

Al-Bab was cleared of Daesh/ISIS terrorists in February 2017 by Türkiye's Operation Euphrates Shield.
