15th Kuwaiti cargo plane carrying humanitarian aid arrives in southern Türkiye

GAZIANTEP, Türkiye (AA) - The 15th Kuwaiti cargo plane carrying humanitarian aid to the victims of the deadly Feb. 6 earthquakes in southern Türkiye arrived Thursday at Gaziantep Airport.

Speaking to Anadolu, Kuwait Relief Society official Mahmoud Al-Misbah said: "We have stood by Türkiye since the first day of the earthquake. We had worked with institutions such as AFAD and IHH of Türkiye before."

"We will be with you until the troubles are over," Al-Misbah said.

A fresh batch of Kuwaiti relief goods consist of blankets, food parcels, dates, clothes, hygiene packages and diapers.

The humanitarian aid collected as part of the "Kuwait is With You" campaign has been delivered to the twin quake victims in Türkiye and Syria, he said.

He stressed that the campaign in Kuwait for the earthquake victims is still going on.

Following the quake disaster, the Kuwaiti government dispatched rescue teams to Türkiye to take part in search efforts for survivors.

The Gulf country also pledged $30 million in aid to both Türkiye and Syria.

The Kuwaiti social affairs minister also visited Gaziantep in southern Türkiye on Feb. 14 to express her country's solidarity with the quake-hit nation.

On Feb. 6, the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 quakes struck 11 provinces — Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa, claiming the lives of nearly 50,000 people.

More than 13.5 million people in Türkiye have been affected by the devastating quakes, as well as many others in northern Syria.
