IDLIB, Syria (AA) - Two more civilians were killed on Wednesday amid ongoing airstrikes that began one day earlier in residential parts of Syria’s northwestern Idlib province.

The strikes targeted the villages of Habeet, Jennagra and Jarjanaz, leaving two civilians dead in the latter, according to Anadolu Agency correspondents based in the area.

On Tuesday, another seven civilians were killed when warplanes targeted residential parts of both Idlib and Hama provinces.

It remains unclear what states or groups are responsible for the deadly bombardments.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since 2011, when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity. The UN claims that hundreds of thousands of people have since been killed in the conflict.

Earlier this week, Turkish and Russian diplomatic sources said negotiators at peace talks in Kazakhstan had agreed on the boundaries of a final de-escalation zone to be set up in Idlib.
