2 injured as gunmen attack school in southern Thailand
Unknown number of attackers took several teachers, students as hostage, reports local media

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least two people were seriously injured when gunmen stormed a school in southern Hat Yai city in Thailand's Songkhla province, according to local media.
An unknown number of attackers took several teachers and students as hostages, according to the Thai news outlet The Nation.
The school director and one student were reported to be seriously injured as of 5.36 pm (1036GMT), according to the Thai Enquirer.
A teacher who was shot was taken to the hospital, according to the Mae Taptim Yala Foundation.
The attack occurred at the Phatong Pradhan Siriwat school, the foundation said on its page on the US social media platform Facebook.
It also said two gunshots were heard at the site.
The gunmen entered the school as classes were about to end for the day, police said. Authorities believe many frightened students remain trapped inside the building.
Police are at the scene.
