2 killed, nearly 100 injured as explosion hits mosque in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AA) – At least two people were killed and nearly 100 injured after a huge blast hit a mosque during midday prayers in Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan, authorities said.

In a statement to the media, Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for the Peshawar Lady Reading Hospital where the blast victims were shifted, confirmed that two persons died and nearly 100 others, including policemen, were injured and transported to the hospital.

"Some of the injured people are in serious condition," Asim said.

A video shared by local rescue officials showed the explosion caused huge damage to the mosque as some parts of the building also collapsed.
