ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces have killed two PKK terrorists in the eastern Agri province, an official statement said on Thursday.
The terrorists were killed when provincial gendarmerie forces were searching for PKK shelters in the Dogubayazit district, said Agri’s Governor’s Office.
One of the slain terrorists was Ahmet Acar, codenamed Murat Bazid, a senior PKK figure around Mt. Agri, the statement added.
During the operation, two Kalashnikovs with 10 chargers and four hand grenades were also seized.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and the EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, more than 1,200 victims, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
