2 PKK terrorists killed in southeastern Turkey
Security forces destroy explosives in Nusaybin
By Halil Ibrahim Sincar
MARDIN, Turkey (AA) - Security forces killed two PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Mardin on Tuesday, the governor’s office said.
They were killed in Nusaybin district, according to a statement. Security forces seized material from nearby shelters and destroyed explosives.
Nusaybin lies on the Syrian border and has been the focus of several counter-terrorism operations since the PKK resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
The governor’s office also declared curfews in several districts until further notice.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- reignited the conflict.
