Senators Rick Scott, Ashley Moody believe new HQ in Florida’s Space Coast in Brevard County to save American tax dollars

WASHINGTON (AA) - Two Republican senators on Friday introduced bill to relocate US space agency NASA headquarters from Washington DC to Florida.

Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody unveiled the Consolidating Aerospace Programs Efficiently at Canaveral (CAPE Canaveral) Act, which aims to move the headquarters from the capital to Florida’s Space Coast in Brevard County.

"There’s no better place for NASA’s headquarters than Florida’s Space Coast, where our nation’s brightest minds innovate and help America reach for the stars," Scott said in a statement.

He argued that the relocation would save Americans’ tax dollars, and enhance efficiency and streamline operations.

Moody said Florida is the leader in space exploration and aerospace innovation.

"Establishing NASA’s headquarters within the Space Coast will bridge the bureaucracy gap from the top down and bring stakeholders together," she said, adding the relocation would save taxpayers money, and encourage collaboration with private space companies.
