RAMALLAH, Palestine / ANKARA (AA) – At least 23 Palestinians were injured on Tuesday when Israeli army forces raided Al-Quds University in occupied East Jerusalem, medics said.
Witnesses said Israeli forces stormed the university in the town of Abu Dis and fired tear gas canisters toward students on campus.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its medical teams treated 23 Palestinians on campus after the Israeli raid.
Footage shared on social media showed Israeli forces using tear gas canisters inside the campus.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on the raid.
The Israeli army and illegal settlers have escalated their attacks in the occupied West Bank since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
At least 946 Palestinians have since been killed and over 7,000 others injured in the occupied territory, according to Palestinian figures.
In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land illegal and demanded the evacuation of all existing settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
