RAMALLAH, Palestine / ISTANBUL (AA) – At least 24 Palestinians were injured in an Israeli military raid in the West Bank on Tuesday, as Tel Aviv continued its escalation in the occupied territory, medics said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said a 12-year-old child and an elderly Palestinian were among those wounded in the raid in the central city of Ramallah.

The medical organization said Israeli forces opened fire on its medics while trying to evacuate those injured by Israeli army fire.

According to witnesses, clashes erupted between angry Palestinian residents and Israeli forces during the raid.

At least three citizens were detained by the Israeli army following the clashes, they said.

Israeli forces also raided Hebron city in the southern West Bank, arresting one Palestinian from inside a bank in the area.

The Israeli army has escalated its military operations in the occupied West Bank since January, killing at least 58 Palestinians and injuring hundreds, according to the Health Ministry.

Palestinian figures showed that 47,000 people were displaced, and hundreds of houses and infrastructure were destroyed in 200 days of Israeli attacks in the northern West Bank since January.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, at least 1,015 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and illegal settlers, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal. It demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
