3 Bangladeshi peacekeepers killed in roadside bomb blast in Africa
Soldiers from UN peacekeeping mission in Central African Republic were on patrol when their vehicle hit improvised explosive device

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) – Three Bangladeshi peacekeepers were killed and another was injured in a roadside bomb blast in a central African country on Tuesday, said an official statement.
Soldiers from the UN peacekeeping mission in the landlocked Central African Republic were on patrol when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the Bangladesh armed forces media wing.
The victims are Jashim Uddin, Jahangir Alam, and Sharif Hossain, said Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement.
Major Ashraful Haque, the patrol commander, was injured and was taken to a hospital in Bouar town. His condition is stable, the statement said.
The process of bringing the soldiers’ bodies to the country is underway, it added.
Banbat-8, a Central African Republic army infantry battalion deployed in the Bouar area of the western sector, has been part of the UN peacekeeping mission since Nov. 2021.
Bangladeshi soldiers are currently serving in UN peacekeeping missions in eight African countries.
