SAKARYA, Turkey (AA) - Three suspected Daesh members were arrested in northwestern Sakarya province on Wednesday, according to a security source.
The arrests came after the Sakarya police's counter-terrorism unit began its intelligence operation as part of Daesh probe initiated by the Sakarya Prosecutor's Office.
Security units arrested three suspects with fake ID cards, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
One of the suspects arrested was alleged to be the terror group’s “emir” of Syria’s Deir ez-Zor region; the other two suspects were accused of handling money transfers in Turkey on behalf of the Daesh terror group.
At least 319 people have lost their lives in Daesh terror attacks in Turkey. The terrorist group has targeted civilians with suicide bombs and rocket-and-gun attacks.
