ISTANBUL (AA) – At least three people were injured in coordinated insurgent attacks in troubled southern provinces of Thailand.

The attacks, in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces, took place during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Videos and photographs published by local media on Wednesday showed petrol pumps on fire, as well as damage to other businesses such as departmental stores and trucks.

“Insurgents launched (a) coordinated bomb and arson attacks on convenience stores and petrol stations at 11 places in three southern border provinces, causing considerable damage,” daily the Bangkok Post reported.

Insurgents wearing face masks and women's attire used bombs and patrol to inflict damages, it added.

The attackers allowed civilians to vacate the target areas before triggering the blasts.

“Police were investigating the attacks, which they said were obviously coordinated,” the daily reported.
