3 injured in overnight Russian airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital: Authorities

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least three people were injured in Russian airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv late Monday, local authorities said on Tuesday.

“The eighth air attack on Kyiv since the beginning of May! This time, the enemy launched a complex attack from different directions simultaneously, using UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), cruise missiles and probably ballistic missiles,” Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv City Military Administration, said in a statement on Telegram.

Popko said that the attack was “exceptional in its density” due to the number of strikes in the shortest period of time, adding that the vast majority of attempts in the airspace of Kyiv were detected and destroyed.

He said that falling debris was recorded in the Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv. A fire broke out at a non-residential building after a piece of debris fell in the Solomianskyi district, Popko added.

Separately, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that three people were injured in Solomianskyi.

The Russia-Ukraine war, now in its 14th month, has killed 8,836 civilians and wounded 14,985, according to the latest UN figures.
