3 people firing rockets from Gaza Strip killed, Israeli army says

JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army on Saturday said it killed three people who were firing rockets at Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip.

Three people affiliated with Hamas, who were detected while firing rockets from the Khan Younis and Bureij refugee camps, were killed by Israeli warplanes, the army said.

It added that 20 rocket launchers and an arms production factory of the Islamic Jihad movement in northern Gaza were targeted in airstrikes.

The Israeli claim has not been confirmed yet by Palestinian resistance groups.

At least 145 people, including dozens of children and women, have been killed and 1,100 more injured since Israel started attacks on Gaza on May 10.

The air raids on Gaza were preceded by days of tensions and Israeli aggression in occupied East Jerusalem, where hundreds of Palestinians were assaulted by Israeli forces and settlers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

Tensions spread from occupied East Jerusalem to Gaza after Palestinian resistance groups vowed retaliation for Israeli assaults.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.
