3 YPG/PKK terror suspects remanded in custody in southeastern Turkey

SANLIURFA, Turkey (AA) – Three suspected members of the YPG/PKK terror group were remanded in custody in southeastern Turkey, a police source said on Wednesday.

They were among four individuals arrested in an anti-terror operation in the Sanliurfa province, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The remaining one suspect was released under judicial control, it added.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
