ISTANBUL (AA) – Four more civilians were injured in Russian strikes on Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region as intense fighting in the region forced locals to take refuge in bunkers, a Ukrainian official said Monday.

“On Nov. 13, the Russians injured 4 civilians in Donetsk region: in Kurakhove, Bakhmut, Andriivka, and Ivanivka,” Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko posted on his Telegram account.

Kyrylenko further said that it is not possible to establish the exact number of those affected by the strikes in Mariupol and Volnovakha.

Whether the strikes are aerial or due to artillery shelling was not specified.

The latest strikes come a day after Kyrylenko said two civilians were killed and one other was injured in Bakhmut city.

The Ukrainian military started to enter the southern city of Kherson on Friday after Russia pulled back troops from the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of Western countries hailed it as a major Ukrainian victory.

Civilian casualties from the ongoing war in Ukraine have reached 16,462, including 6,490 killed and 9,972 injured, according to UN estimates.
