4 injured as police chase rifle-bearing man in Japan

ISTANBUL (AA) – At least four people were injured in Japan on Thursday after a man bearing hunting rifle opened fire, police said.

The incident happened in central Japan’s Nagano province, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported.

Among the injured are a woman and two cops.

Police are currently chasing the armed man, “wearing camouflage clothing, a hat, sunglasses and a mask,” who is “holed up” in a building.

Locals initiated an emergency call in the afternoon after they found a man “possessing a knife or a firearm” and “remains on the loose in the area.”
