4 killed, 27 injured due to Russian strikes in Ukraine

Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv regions hit in past 24 hours

ISTANBUL (AA) – Four people were killed and 27 others injured due to Russian strikes in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Kherson and Kharkiv regions in the past 24 hours.

“In just one day, the Russians killed one resident of Donetsk region and wounded another 13,” Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said in a message on Telegram early Wednesday.

Kyrylenko said that a rocket hit a hospital building in Druzhkivka, causing minor damage.

Kyrylenko further said that the city of Avdiivka was shelled by artillery, noting that despite there being no casualties, there is the destruction of infrastructure.

Separately, Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Telegram early Wednesday that one person was killed and 10 injured in the past day due to Russian attacks.

“Over the past day, the enemy carried out 79 attacks, firing 350 shells from heavy artillery and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). The enemy shelled the city of Kherson 12 times,” Prokudin said.

Prokudin also said a market and the building of an educational institution were also hit in the city, adding that “52 people were evacuated from the de-occupied territory of the region.”

Elsewhere, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov wrote on his Telegram account that two bodies were recovered during search and rescue operations at the site of a Russian airstrike in the city of Vovchansk.

Synyehubov said in an earlier message that airstrikes in Vovchansk struck two residential buildings, farm buildings and a market, causing a large-scale fire.

Initial information noted that two people were injured due to the strikes, Synyehubov further said, adding that two others were injured in the villages of Petropavlivka and Dvorichna.

Now in its second year, the war between Russia and Ukraine has so far killed 8,534 civilians and wounded 14,370 others, according to the latest UN figures.
