4 killed, 4 injured in fire in Russian city of Novosibirsk

MOSCOW (AA) - Four people were killed and four injured in a fire at a wooden residential house in Novosibirsk, which occurred overnight Friday, the Prosecutor's Office of the Novosibirsk region said Saturday.

“Four people died -- one man and three women,” according to a statement.

In a separate statement, the regional Health Ministry said those who were injured were taken to medical facilities, with three hospitalized in critical condition.

The fire broke out late Friday on the second floor of the two-story wooden apartment building with an attic level.

A partial roof collapse ensued. The total area affected by the fire measures approximately 600 square meters (6,458 feet).

Seventeen residents evacuated themselves from the premises.
