KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - At least four people were killed and another six went missing after a fishing trawler sank in waters off South Korea's southern coast early Sunday.

With 14 crew members onboard, the 139-ton vessel was reported missing in waters about 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) east of the island of Habaek, near Yeosu, located 316 km (196 mi) south of the capital Seoul, Yonhap News reported.

The deceased included the vessel's 66-year-old captain, while four crew members were rescued by the South Korean Coast Guard.

Rescue efforts are underway for the remaining crew members.

The crew included eight South Koreans, three Vietnamese, and three Indonesians.

One of the surviving crew members said the vessel had capsized due to the wind and waves, but authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
