BEIRUT/ISTANBUL (AA) – Four Syrian workers were wounded Monday after an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on the southern Lebanese town of Khiam, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

The state news agency NNA said the strike targeted the Wadi al-Asafir area near stone factories, injuring three Syrian laborers who were rushed to hospital. The Health Ministry later confirmed a fourth casualty.

The state-run outlet also reported that Israeli forces detonated a house in the border town of Meiss al-Jabal after crossing into Lebanese territory east of the village.

Elsewhere, Israeli drones dropped stun grenades over the border town of Dhayra and during a funeral procession in Ramieh, without causing injuries.

Residents across the south, including Zahrani, Tyre, and surrounding villages, reported drones flying at low altitude throughout the day.

Israel launched a military offensive in Lebanon on Oct. 8, 2023, which escalated into a full-scale war by September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and injuring around 17,000.

A ceasefire was reached in November, but Israeli forces have conducted near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming to target activities of the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
Under the truce, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after Tel Aviv refused to comply. Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
