ADANA, Turkey (AA) - Security forces arrested five people in southern Turkey over their suspected links to the PKK terror group, security sources said on Friday.
Following an investigation carried out by public prosecutors in the southern Adana province, gendarmerie forces conducted raids in Adana and Mersin provinces to arrest the suspects, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The suspects have allegedly operated in northern Syria in the ranks of YPG/PKK terror group and was spreading terror propaganda among agricultural workers in Adana and Mersin provinces.
A pistol along with some bullets and digital materials were also seized by security forces during the raids.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.
