7.1 magnitude earthquake strikes China's Tibet region
Casualties reported following quake in city of Xigaze in Xizang Autonomous Region

WASHINGTON (AA) - A powerful magnitude 7.1 earthquake rattled China's Tibet region Tuesday morning, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The earthquake struck the city of Xigaze in the Xizang Autonomous Region at 9.05 am local time (0105GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), according to the USGS.
Separately, China’s earthquake monitoring agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center, recorded the magnitude as 6.8.
Casualties were reported following the earthquake, according to Xinhua News Agency.
